Dr. Angie McMichael is a lifelong educator, community advocate, and proud Democrat. She has dedicated her career to expanding opportunity for families who are too often overlooked. As a former chief of staff at The Point charter school and a higher-education dean, she has spent decades fighting for equitable resources and stronger schools.
Her platform is rooted in the real needs of District 60: ensuring every child has access to a high-quality education, expanding affordable housing and revitalizing neighborhoods, and protecting older adults with policies that preserve dignity, independence and care.
A member of the High Point NAACP and deeply connected to the community she serves, Dr. Angie McMichael is running to restore trust, uplift working families, and deliver meaningful change for a district ready to move forward.
“I am here to introduce myself as a mother, a wife, and an educator of more than 20 years. I come from a proud legacy of service. My father is a Vietnam veteran who served our nation honorably as an E-5, O-2 in the 101st Airborne Infantry, and my mother devoted more than 30 years to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant. Their example shaped my values, my work ethic, and my commitment to the people of District 60.” – Angie

“I’m running for the legislature to stand up for Guilford County and all of North Carolina — to invest in quality education for our children, expand access to affordable housing, support our aging population with dignity and care, and strengthen the values that make our community proud.”
Every child deserves a school that inspires them, challenges them, and gives them the tools to succeed — no matter their ZIP code. As an educator, Angie has seen firsthand how access to strong schools can change the trajectory of a young person’s life. That’s why she is committed to ensuring every student has the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
This includes investing in well-funded classrooms, expanding early childhood education, supporting teachers with fair pay and professional development, and making sure students have access to modern technology, safe buildings, and enriching after-school programs.
Every family deserves a safe, stable place to call home — and High Point and Jamestown deserve the housing options needed to meet our community’s growth. Angie believes that expanding housing across Guilford County is essential for our economic future and quality of life.
Angie knows firsthand as an educator that when families can find housing close to good schools and jobs, children learn better, local businesses grow stronger, and whole communities become more vibrant and connected. She’s running to champion smart growth in High Point and Jamestown.
Our older adults built this community, and they deserve to age with dignity, independence, and the support they need. Angie is committed to ensuring that seniors can remain in their homes and stay connected to the community they love. That means expanding access to affordable healthcare and prescription medications, protecting Social Security and Medicare from cuts, and investing in home care services that allow seniors to live independently for as long as possible.
Too many older adults face impossible choices between paying for medicine, groceries, or keeping the heat on. That’s unacceptable. By strengthening programs that provide meal delivery, transportation, and wellness checks, and by supporting the caregivers who look after our loved ones, we can build a community where every senior is valued and cared for. This campaign is about honoring the contributions of our older residents and making sure that no one is left behind in their golden years.
